Obituary of Neil Logan

Most folks never get to cross paths with a real-life superhero, but anyone who knew Neil Logan – if only for a minute or an entire lifetime - can count themselves among the lucky. Born Wilfred Neil Logan Jr. in Halifax, Nova Scotia in July 1949, “Little Neil” wore several different super suits throughout his life. Some knew him as Constable Logan, who proudly served the Halifax Police Department for 30 years with compassion and care for his community. To many others he was Coach Logan, with athletes benefiting from his lifelong passion for sports and boundless patience. And for the truly fortunate, Neil wore the suit of friend, cousin, uncle, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and husband. It was in those roles where his superpowers were their strongest. “Papa Bear” passed away peacefully and surrounded by love in Summerside, PEI on November 17, 2024, handing his powers and super suits to those whose lives he touched.

Neil’s remarkable life is celebrated and survived by his wife Judy Logan (Stairs) and children Chad (Lisa), Derrith (Craig), and Jason (Alison), as well as grandchildren James (Emily), Patrick (Denise), Kierra, Kiegan, Owen, Elizabeth, Emery, and great grandchildren Ella and Harrison. He is survived by siblings Donna (Greg), Robert, Fern, and Stephen (Marilyn). He is predeceased by parents Wilfred Neil Logan Sr. and Susan Logan (Roache), and brother David.

There is no visitation, and a Celebration of Life will be held in Halifax, NS at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please carry on Neil’s commitment to youth athletics by donating to KidSport Nova Scotia in his name (https://kidsportcanada.ca/nova-scotia/).
