Obituary of Joan Elaine Allen
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Joan Elaine Allen (Sutherland) at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, PEI on Tuesday October 22nd, 2024, at the age of 76 years. Joan was born in Souris, PEI to the late Donald and Mary Sutherland (MacEachern).
Beloved wife of the late Fred Allen and loving mother of Jennifer Allen. Survived by her siblings Christina McMurrer, Lorne (Kathy MacWilliams), Maria (Gib) Gibson, nieces and nephews, as well as the extended Allen family. Predeceased by her son Fred Allen, siblings Ernest, Eileen and Marilyn Sutherland, brothers-in-law Edward McMurrer and Elmer DesRoches.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday October 28th, 2024, where the visiting hours will be held from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Summerside at 12:30 p.m. Reception to follow the funeral in the church hall. Interment to take place at a later date in the Oakridge Memorial Garden Cemetery, Middle Sackville, NS.
Memorial donations in Joan’s memory may be made directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association of PEI or Nova Scotia.
