Obituary of Anita Marie Poirier
The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor on July 22nd, 2024 of Anita Marie Poirier nee Arsenault, of Maximille and formerly of Mont Carmel, aged 98 years.
Anita was born in Egmont Bay to her late parents Camille and Leah Arsenault.
Beloved wife of the late Pascal Poirier and loving mother of Paul Arsenault (Darlene Blanchard) and Henri Poirier (Sharon). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Michelle (Eddie) Blanchard, Charlene (Mark) Burke, Beth (Greg Burness), Laura MacArthur (James Booth). Also remembered by her great-grandchildren Logan O'Brien (Fabinne), Amy MacArthur (Cameron), Ryan MacArthur, Allie Booth, Madison Burke, Hunter Burke, and great- great grandson Bentley MacArthur. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chez Nous and Summerset Manor for their compassionate care for Anita during her stay. Besides her parents, Leah and Camille, and her husband, Pascal, Anita was predeceased by her brothers Anthony, Nazaire, Eric, Frank, and Dollard Arsenault, her sister Lorraine Arsenault, and grandson Jason Arsenault.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, July 24th for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Mont Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made online to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Prince County Hospital Foundation.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
