Obituary of Vivian Margaret Holland

Vivian Margaret (Hall), of Summerside, and formerly of Halifax, N.S., passed away peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Saturday June 29, 2024, in her 87th year, after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born to the late Harry and Helen Hall (McFetridge), and beloved wife of the late James Terrence “Terry” Holland. 

 

Vivian is survived by her son Thomas (Lorraine) Holland, granddaughter Heather Marie, of Sydney, Australia, daughter Heather (Stephen) Matheson, of Crapaud, grandsons Tyler (Lianne), of Moncton, N.B., Spencer of Banff, A.B., and brother-in-law Bill Kline.  Vivian will be dearly missed by several nieces and nephews.

 

Predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth (Ballum) Matheson, Frances (Vaughan) Crossman, and Evelyn Kline.

 

Vivian graduated from Mount Allison Commercial College in May 1955 with a Secretarial Diploma. She was employed as a legal secretary with Merrick, Holm in Halifax, NS for many years. Her favorite pastime was dancing the jive with beloved husband “Terry”, to whom she was married for 52 years. She enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends and would make a friend wherever she went. She was an exemplary baker and would bake and share her favourite recipes with her family and friends.

 

Vivian joined TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) in January 2009. She reached her goal weight and became a KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) in November 2009. Vivian enjoyed the comradery of the group and would not miss a weekly meeting. In 2009 she was the Queen of the Summerside Chapter 4577.

Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, until Monday, July 15th , 2024, where visiting hours will take place from 6:00 –  8:00 p.m. Internment will take place in the Elmsdale Cemetery, in Elmsdale, N.S. on July 16th at 11:00 a.m.
