Obituary of Stuart Hector Affleck
Stuart Hector Affleck of Summerside, formerly of Lower Bedeque, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 11, 2024, aged 76 years. Stuart was the son of the late Douglas and Katie (McKay) Affleck and is remembered fondly by his wife Linda, loving sons Adam and Ian (Genevieve), grandchildren Alyla and Sebastien and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his brother Leslie in infancy and sister Janet Simpson (Blair) and is survived by his sister Joan Linkletter (Robert) and Arthur Andrews (Cherie).
Stuart had a long and successful career in agriculture from continuing and growing his father’s farm and serving on provincial and national agricultural organizations. He was a strong believer in volunteerism and charity work and took part in many local community organizations.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245Pope Rd. Summerside. A private committal will be held at a later date. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
