I knew Gilles and Leah many years ago. I went to school with their son Richard throughout the years. They were both fine people and I remember how very nice they both were. I am sure the loss is tremendous to their kids and families, however what an ending to a perfect love story....leaving this world together. I know they had very strong faith and I know they are together in heaven! My deepest condolences...

I am so sorry for the loss of these beautiful people. I met Gilles and Leah in the 1990's at St Paul's where we shared the social justice work of the Fire in the Rose program. I continued to connect with them through Gilles' work. I would see them occasionally over the years (at my nephew Phil MacLellan's wedding, as a neighbor of Vance Glover). I am sorry to have lost touch with them. I am sure the family has many wonderful memories. They continue to hold a spot in my hear. Brenda Picard (ED PEI Human Rights Commission)

To the family , I extend my deep sympathy. I knew them through the Spirituality Center in Charlottetown at Mount St Mary's. We did the Ignation Spiritual Exercises together.
They were each such wonderful human beings and as a couple they were dynamite! They loved deeply and gave freely, they will be missed!
Blessings,
Donna Cawley

.. I imagine there are many more beautiful heartfelt words. I am happy they are remembered for who they are.. not only for what they did. A caring, compassionate, faith-filled couple working together with Jesus through the years acting and teaching and forming others for justice and righteousness for all creation.... people and ecology. Loved, admired as formators and friends, we continue their work. May we have the same fire in our hearts and actions building God's kingdom.

Lord, we thank you for the lives of your servants Leah and Gilles. Since they have been faithful in carrying out your will, welcome them together in your love, watch over their families and all those they leave behind in mourning, and make the seeds they have sown bear fruit.

To the family of Leah and Gilles,
Our sincerest condolences to you on the loss of your parents. Doug and I first met Gilles and Leah in 1976. We had just recently relocated to PEI and we were in search of support in following the Christian way of life in community. Mutual friends recommended them to us as a couple who very engaged in building community. We were young newlyweds and it seemed they represented all we aspired to be. We met them occasionally over the years but one incident stands out. In 2002, Doug was in Rome as the Canadian delegate at the General Elective Chapter of the Secular Franciscan Order. At that event, he was unexpectedly elected as a Presidency Councillor to serve on the International Presidency headquartered in Rome. It was an emotional time for both of us since I was not able to be present for the installation. This event happened to coincide with Gilles and Leah’s time in serving as Executive Secretaries at the CLC Secretariat in Rome. Somehow, they got wind of Doug’s election and showed up at the Vatican to be present for the ceremony. Their presence meant so much to both of us - familiar faces from home there to witness what was for us a life-changing event. Thank you for sharing your beautiful parents with so many of us. May they rest in the loving arms of God!

Leah and Gilles have been such a presence in our lives for as long as I can remember. Leah and I drove to UPEI for months and took Religious Studies together. I will always value our conversations. So kind, intelligent and socially aware. Both wonderful, supportive and life long friends to mom and dad (Ann & David). The loss of 2 beautiful souls who gave so much to everyone and everything they met and encountered saddens us all, but makes us thankful for having been a part of their lives. So sorry for your loss.

To the families of Giles and Leah. I am so sorry for your loss. What an interesting life they lived and accomplished so many wonderful things. We knew your parents when were stationed in Greenwood, Nov Scotia and had a close relationship with them for the three years we were there. We took camping trips with them, attended social events and also church functions. They were a great inspiration to us spiritually and a beautiful couple that we never forgot. I know that you children probably do not remember us, but we have fond memories of you.
May the great memories that you have of your parents help sustain you at this difficult time.
In our hearts and prayers. Eileen (Ken deceased) and family

Dear Diane, Joanne, Richard and your families,
We send our condolences on the passing of your beloved parents, Gilles and Leah. They were friends, mentors, and faithfull servants of God. Their faithfullness, passion, wisdom and humility have touched us and many others around the world. Their legacy in CLC and Ignatian Spirituality is a blessing that will live on and continue to benefit CLC Canada and beyond. In memory of Gilles and Leah, we made a donation to the Father John English Founders Fund to assist with formation and development of CLC Canada, and enrolled them in perpetual membership for prayers and Masses with the Jesuits of Canada. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your parents now rest in eternal life with the Trinity.
From the New Brunswick Group Guide and Group Coordinator Community on behalf of all New Brunswick CLC members.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
