Obituary of Ivan Bruce Paynter
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PE on Friday, January 20th, 2023 of Ivan Bruce Paynter of North Tryon, PE and formerly of Halifax, NS, aged 74 years. Ivan was born in Tryon, PE to the late Walter & Gladys (Thomas) Paynter.
Beloved husband of Ardith (Brenton) Paynter and loving father to Bruce (Kerri) and Cheryl (Peter) Gallant. Also remembered by his grandchildren Donovan and Craig Paynter, ‘my little man’ Tyler Skerry and missed by his faithful furry companion “Oliver”. Predeceased by his brother George Paynter.
Ivan worked for many years in Halifax, renting heavy construction machinery, before moving his family to PEI for the construction of Confederation Bridge. Once that was completed, he began a career in long-haul trucking which brought him all across Canada and the United States. He will be missed by his North American trucking ‘family’. The family will celebrate and remember Ivan’s life privately. Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, PE.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
