Obituary of Doucette, Ivan Alcide
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital on Saturday, March 8th, 2014 of Ivan Alcide Doucette of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 81 years. Ivan was born on January 24, 1933 in Tignish, P.E.I. to his late parents Frank and Elizabeth (nee Allain) Doucette. Survived by his special friend Rita Arsenault and her family, also by his special pet Lily and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by his brothers Arthur, Melvin, Leo, Edmond, Alfred, Albert and Ralph and his sisters Ida Johnes and Rose Martin.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, March 11th, for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment to take place in St.Paul's Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Ivan`s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening only, 7 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
