Obituary of Coughlin, Gladys Minnie
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summeride, P.E.I. on Tuesday, May13th , 2014 of Gladys Minnie Coughlin (nee Paugh) of Summerside, P.E.I. and formerly of Conway, P.E.I., aged 79 years. Gladys was born on October 22nd, 1934 in Northam to her late parents Ellis and Edith (nee Ford) Paugh.
Beloved wife of Robert Coughlin and loving mother of Isobelle Coughlin, Susan (Rodney) Milligan, Nancy (Henry) Gallant, Gwendy (Rickey) Bridges and Lori (Lori) Coughlin. Also lovingly remembered by her 4 grandchildren Robbi and Randy Milligan, Sarah Bridges and Kayla Gallant, 1 great grandchild Regan Milligan and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by her brothers and sisters Florence MacDonald, Earle, Stan (Marie) Paugh, Ellen Arsenault, Olivine (Ronnie) Gaudet, Katheleen Noonan, Gerald (Gerry) Paugh, Wesley Paugh, Judy Walfield, Eva (Floyd) Arsenault and Mae (Billy) Walfield, brother in-law Alton Rayner and sister in-law Barb Paugh.
Besides her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her sisters Stella (Harold) Wright, Alma (Charlie) Smith and Ruby Rayner, brothers Jack and Raymond, Herbie (in infancy) and Ellis (toddler), grandson Joseph and granddaughter Laurie, brothers in-law Roy MacDonald, Leo Arsenault, Morley Noonan and Myles Walfield.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, May 16th, for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in East Bideford United Church Cemetery, East Bideford. Memorial donations in Gladys's memory to the Parkinson's Society or the East Bideford United Church Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. By personal request there will be no visiting hours held.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
