Obituary of Blacquiere, Mary Marcella
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Wednesday, August 6th 2014 of Mary "Marcella" Blacquiere (nee Maddix) of St. Nicholas, aged 61 years. Born in Summerside, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Eva (nee Perry) Maddix.
Beloved wife of Harold Blacquiere and loving mother of Sarah Hamilton (Travis) of Edmonton, Alberta and Adam Blacquiere (Kate Mallett) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Caylee and Cody Hamilton and a new grandson due in the fall.
Besides her parents, Marcella was predeceased by her infant daughter Christine, brothers Raymond, Ernest and her in-laws Harold and Anna (nee Warner) Blacquiere.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, August 11th, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or the St. John the Baptist Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
