Obituary of MacDonald, Eileen Maria
The death occurred at her late residence on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014 of Eileen Maria MacDonald of Summerside and formerly of DeSable, P.E.I., aged 87 years. Eileen was born in Stanley Bridge, P.E.I. to her late parents Dan and Emily (nee MacKay) MacDonald.
Beloved wife of the late Russell MacLean and also her second husband,the late Arthur MacDonald. Loving mother of Jimmy MacLean (Bonnie) of ON., Laura Kelly ( Lawrence) of N.B. and Garfield MacLean (Lori) of Summerside and step-mother of Charlie MacDonald (Goldie) of Souris, Carl "Duckie" MacDonald (Heather) of Stratford and Joan Doucette (Peter) of Mermaid. Also lovingly remembered by her 22 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and step grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her son-in-law Freddy Livingston of Charlottetown and Audrey Edison who was very much like family.
Besides her parents and her two husbands, Eileen was predeceased by her daughter Wanda Livingston, her stepsons Lawrence "Sonny" MacDonald (Jean) and Roland MacDonald, her brother Donald MacDonald (Marie) and her sister Marjorie Paynter (Jim).
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, December 1st where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eileen's memory to the funeral expense fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday afternoon, November 30th , from 2 - 5 p.m.. Interment to take place in the Argyle Shore Cemetery.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
