Obituary of MacKinnon, Ruth
The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday April 3rd, 2015 of Ruth MacKinnon (nee MacLean) of Summerside, aged 98 years. Ruth was born in Montague, P.E.I. to her late parents Andrew and Jessie (nee MacPherson) MacLean.
Beloved wife of the late Raymond MacKinnon and loving mother of Doug (Helena), Heather (Jacques) Gauthier, Lynn (Garth) Turtle, Ralph (Margo) and LouAnn (David) Williams. Also lovingly remembered by her 9 grandchildren Jennifer and Martin Gauthier, Lindsey Swan, Andrea and Brady MacKinnon, Michelle and Kristen Turtle, Kate and Andrew Williams and her 2 great grandchildren.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday April 6th, for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley at a later date. Memorial donations in Ruth's memory to the Summerset Manor would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
