Obituary of Higgins, Nan Louise
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, July 10th, 2015 of Nan Louise Higgins (nee Corbin) of Summerside, aged 86 years. Nan was born in Berwick, N.S. to her late parents, David and Josephine (nee Wheeler) Corbin.
Beloved wife of the late Gordon Higgins and loving mother of the late David Higgins. Lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law Carol Higgins of Summerside, her grandson Darren (Melissa) Higgins of Summerside, her granddaughter Kelly Higgins (Adam Steele) of Halifax, N.S. and her great-grandchildren Kaylie Rioux and Corbyn Higgins. Survived by her brother Jackie Corbin, her sister Bonnie (Edgar) Mitchell, her sisters and brother-in-law George (Sharon) Higgins, Grace Taylor, Jean McGee and Hilda Burton all of N.S. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, her husband Gordon and her son David, Nan was predeceased by her sisters Marion Corbin and Marita (Lincoln) Veno and her brother Albert (Myrtle) Corbin.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, July 14th, where a funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m.. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donation in Nan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Crohn's and Colitis Society would be greatly appreciated. No visiting hours by personal request. ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
