Obituary of Thompson, Lois Bertha
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Thursday, December 10th, 2015 of Lois Bertha (nee Cutcliffe) Thompson of Augustine Cove, P.E.I., aged 79 years. Lois was born in Cape Traverse to her late parents Harold and Janet (nee Nicholson) Cutcliffe.
Beloved wife of the late Douglas Thompson and loving mother of Jennifer (Brian) Good of Augustine Cove, Neil (Pam) of Clyde River and Earl (Deanna) of East Royalty. Lovingly remembered by her 8 grandchildren Spencer Thompson, Brenna (Travis) Boudreau, Wyatt and Zoë Good, Hayden and Jace Thompson, McKenzie Raymond and Ashley Gallant. Survived by her brother and sisters: Bea (Doug) Patterson, Alger (Elizabeth) Cutcliffe, Donna Livingstone, Liz Flack, Lynda (Sheldon) Gardiner and Hazel Thompson and brothers and sister-in-law Paul Dawson, Ruth Cutcliffe, and Max McLean, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved her as Aunt Loie.
Besides her parents and her husband, Lois was predeceased by her brothers Gordon, Bryon, Gerald and Wendell Cutcliffe, her sisters Eleanor Dawson and Adele McLean, her brother-in-law Nelson Livingstone and sister-in-law Margaret Cutcliffe.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Sunday, December 13th then to the Crapaud Gospel Hall, Crapaud for a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lois's memory to the East Prince Equipment Pool or the Canadian Red Cross Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Saturday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
