Obituary of Richards, Marion Catherine
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday, February 15th, 2016 of Marion Catherine Richards (nee DesRoches) of Summerside, aged 74 years. Marion was born in Summerside to her late parents Mert and Reta (nee Gallant) DesRoches.
Loving mother of Sandra Faye Arsenault, Brock Richards, Darlene Richards all of Summerside and Mia Richards of Edmonton, AB. Also lovingly remembered by her special granddaughter Melinda (Chris Boyles), along with Michael, Damian and Dakota, her great-grandchildren Darien, Sammie, Jordin, Thomas and Payton, several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Clifford DesRoches (Karen) and George DesRoches (Donna) of Mississauga, ON., Ronnie DesRoches (Judy) of Seven Mile Bay, Terry DesRoches (Linda) of Tyne Valley, Elaine Peters (Tom Wigmore) of Breadalbane, and Carol Ann Warren (Greg) of Searletown.
Besides her parents, Marion was predeceased by her son-in-law Charles Arsenault, her great-granddaughter Madison Richards and her sister Ida May (Edward) Gaudet.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, February 22nd, for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Memorial donations in Marion's memory to the funeral expense fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
