Obituary of MacAusland, Gerald Thane
The death occurred peacefully with his family by his side at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PE on Wednesday March 23rd, 2016 of Gerald Thane MacAusland of Kensington, PE aged 76 years. Gerald was born in Summerside and is the last surviving child of his late parents Samuel and Flosse (nee MacKinnon) MacAusland.
Beloved husband of Roberta "Jean" (nee MacKay) MacAusland and loving father of Geraldine (Steve) Dixon, Darrell (Anne), Lee (Phyllis), Tammy (Paul), Twila (Gerald) Arsenault, April (Blair) Marsh, and daughters in-law Amelia and Jennifer. Also lovingly remembered by his 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his sons Thane, Clinton and Geoffrey, brothers and sisters Ray, Major, Elton, Preston, Gary, Arnold, Lloyd, Leonard, Eileen and Ruth.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday March 26th, then to the Summerside United Pentecostal Church for a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gerald can be made to a fund that will help his widow, Jean with her medical expenses. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Visiting hours on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
