Obituary of Gardiner, Sheldon Bennett
The death occurred peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Andrews Lodge, Summerside, P.E.I. on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 of Sheldon Bennett Gardiner of Summerside, aged 82 years. Sheldon was born in Cape Traverse, P.E.I. to his late parents Hazard and Besse (nee Branhall) Gardiner.
Beloved husband of Lynda (nee Cutcliffe) Gardiner and loving father of Craig, Brad (Stephanie) and Kent. Also lovingly remembered by his 2 grandchildren; Matt and Dawn. Survived by his brother and sisters Velda Clifton, Jessie Jay, June (Ev) MacNeill and Wayne (Mabel) and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Sheldon was predeceased by his brothers Auldon, Gerald and Alvin, brothers in-law Lee Clifton and Norman Jay.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday April 20th, for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Sheldon's memory to Free Church of Scotland, Cape Traverse would be greatly appreciated. Interment to take place in the Free Church of Scotland, Cape Traverse at a later date. Visiting hours on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
