Obituary of Cummings, James "Jim"

The death occurred peacefully at Clinton View Lodge, Clinton, P.E.I. on Thursday, April 21st, 2016 of Jim Cummings of Kensington, age 87 years. Jim was born in Breadalbane to his late parents Allan and Florence (McInnis) Cummings. After losing his parents at a young age Jim was raised by his sisters, spending the majority of his time at Peg and Herman's farm in Emerald. He worked for Canadian National Railway for 31 years as a station agent until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed playing hockey, carpentry, reading and watching sports. Many hours were spent watching NHL games and international hockey on the television. In 1972 he lugged a television to the railway station so he could watch the Summit Series final. He is survived by his loving wife Caryl Cummings and her children, Bonnie(Jeff Hampden) Murray, Debbie (David)MacMurdo, Jamie (Juliana Elsinga) Clow, Dawna (David)Woodside and Leslie(DanVanWart) Clow; her 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters and brothers- in-laws Isabel and Elton Somers, Mabel and Bob Howard, Peggy and Herman Mayne, Georgie and Wendell Mayne, Jean Cummings; and sisters-in-laws Barbara Fodchuk and Dawn Kramer. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Sunday, April 24th, then to the Kensington United Church for a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. By personal request there will be no visiting hours held. Interment to take place in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in Jim's memory can be made to the P.E.I. Lung Association.
