Obituary of MacDonald, Marion "Shirley"
The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Thursday, July 14th, 2016 of Marion "Shirley" MacDonald (nee Bears) of Chelton, P.E.I., aged 84 years. Shirley was born in Chelton to her late parents Jim and Norma (nee Doull) Bears.
Beloved wife of Robert "Bob" Mac Donald and loving mother of Barbara (Steve) Lavigueur of Grand Lake, N.S. and Lloyd MacDonald of New Haven. Also lovingly remembered by her 5 grandchildren: Bob, Coady and Chelsea MacDonald and James and Richard Lavigueur and her nephews Sandy (Joan) Bears of Chelton and Charles (Linda) Bears of Alberta.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother Austin (Ruth) Bears.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, July 20th, then to the Bedeque United Church, Bedeque for a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Visiting hours will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Shirley's memory to the Bedeque United Church Fund would be greatly appreciated. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
