Obituary of Aitken, Robert "Bob"
The death occurred at his late residence on Friday, October 7th, 2016 of Robert "Bob" Aitken of Halifax, NS. and formerly of Charlottetown, P.E.I., aged 66 years. Bob was born in Summerside to his late parents Clifford and Marie (Bernard) Aitken.
Loving father of Melissa (Colin) McQuaid and Jason (Rebecca) Aitken and their mother the late Shirley Aitken. Also lovingly remembered by his 5 grandchildren Dakota and Damian McQuaid and Reece, Lily and Myles Aitken.
Survived by his brothers and sisters Donnie (Kathy) Aitken, Betty Mae (Wally) Williams, Joan Kilbride, Blair (Teresa) Aitken and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister Marsha (Eric) MacKinnon.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday October 15th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Malpeque. Memorial donations in Bob's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
