Obituary of Dickinson, Shirley Mary
The death occurred peacefully at her late residence on Monday, November 28th, 2016 of Shirley Mary Dickinson (nee Arsenault) of Summerside, aged 79 years. Shirley was born in Lower Bedeque to her late parents Hubert and Agnes (nee Gallant) Arsenault.
Beloved spouse of the late John Folland and loving mother of Donna Slaunwhite, Tyler (Bev) Slaunwhite, Tina (Robert) Fox, Blair (Wendy) Slaunwhite, Judy Slaunwhite and Kathy Bryden. Also loving remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Betty Murphy, Ruby (Joe) Jurkowski, Nancy Sonier, Douglas (Bonnie), David, Judy (Danny) Gaudet, Sally Yeo, Blair (Norma), Debbie Sobey (Richard) and Rodney (Jayne). Also survived by sister-in-law Trish Arsenault.
Predeceased by her sister Velda (Wensil) Harris; brothers Lorne (Bernice), Harvey, Bobby (Lois), Ralph, Leroy and brothers-in-law Don Murphy, Joe Sonier, Obi Yeo.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Road, Summerside. A public committal service will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, Seven Mile Bay on Friday, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations in Shirley's memory to Canadian Diabetes Association or Childrens Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated. By personal request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service held.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
