Obituary of DesRoches Bartoszynski, Madeleine
(1922 - 2016 ) The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Friday, December 16th, 2016 with family at her side of Madeleine DesRoches Bartoszynski of Summerside, aged 94 years.
Madeleine was the daughter of the late Fidel DesRoches and Mary Ann Gallant of Egmont Bay. She was the last living member of the twelve DesRoches children. Madeleine was predeceased by her dear husband Kazimir "Max" Bartoszynski in 2001.
In addition to her parents and husband, Madeleine was also predeceased by her eleven siblings and their spouses: Mary DesRoches Cormier (Fred), Josephine "Joey" DesRoches Duffy (Maurice), Ida DesRoches Boudreau (Albert), Judy DesRoches McCarville (Rex), Evangeline "Eva" DesRoches Mahar (Patrick), Alphonse DesRoches (Gertie), Emmett DesRoches (Bibianne & Grace), Donat DesRoches (Jaquline), Matt DesRoches (Lucy), Cyrus DesRoches (Christina) and Felix DesRoches (Rose). Madeleine is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside for visitation on Monday, December 19th from 2 - 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Summerside on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Madeleine's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
