Obituary of Doucette, Welna Theresa
The death occurred peacefully at Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Wednesday December 28th, 2016 of Welna Theresa Doucette (nee Wedge), aged 88 years. Welna was born in Summerside, P.E.I. to her late parents Joseph and Helen Wedge.
Beloved wife of the late Henry Doucette and loving mother of Ricky (Rose), Myles (Julie) and Dixie (Danny) O'Brien. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jason, Greg, Nathan, Ashley, Blake and Nicholas and her great grandchildren Hannah, Olivia, Aiden, Riley and Jack Henry.
Survived by her brother-in-law Ken Bustin.
Besides her parents and husband, Welna was predeceased by her brother and sisters Pauline (Preston) Clow, Marie Bustin, Freda (Peewee) Doucette and Albert (Sylvia) Wedge.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday, December 31st, for a funeral mass at St. Paul's Church, Summerside at 10:00 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Welna's memory to the Wedgewood Manor Equipment Fund or Meals on Wheels would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
