Obituary of Erickson, Gary Michael
The death occurred peacefully at Andrews of Summerside, Summerside, P.E.I., on Tuesday, January 17th, 2017 of Gary Michael Erickson of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 79 years. Gary was born in Cape Breton, NS to his late parents Rudolph and Mary Erickson.
Beloved husband of the late Lillian (nee Gaudet) Erickson and loving father of Eleanor Clow, Debbie Arsenault, Ronald, Bonita (Karl) Kartau and Kim (Don) Christie. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Tammy, Shawn, Brandon, Alex, John, Stephen and Kevin, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by his brothers and sisters Jimmy, Victor (Phyllis), Stan, Linda (Murray) Chandler, Bobby and Marilyn (Bill) Gadd.
Besides his parents and wife, Gary was predeceased by his daughter Mary Ransom, son-in-law Barry Clow, sisters Sandra Erickson, Gwendolyn Richer and brother Terry.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, January 21st, then to St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay for a funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Gary's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Peter's Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
