Obituary of Rutherford, Scott Wilbert
Scott Wilbert Rutherford, age 77, of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, passed away peacefully January 18, 2017 in the Prince County Hospital. Born in Middle Stewiacke, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Chester and Mary (Allan) Rutherford.
He is survived by sister, Sadie (Morel); children, Roy (Ruth), Brenda, and Scott (Jessica) (through Thelma Dunlap); stepchildren, Stephen (Kathy), Jennifer (through Joan Lewis); special grandchildren, Corinne, Miranda.
He was predeceased by sister Mabel (Turple); brother, Emerson.
Scott worked many years for the Department of Transportation and Department of Lands & Forests/Natural Resources, building and maintaining a number of roads in Colchester County.
He was a faithful Christian minister for 52 years, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Scott's favourite activities were going for coffee, hiking, watching hockey, and sitting by the fire. He will be remembered as a devout father, a hard worker, and a good man.
Cremation has taken place. Service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, January 21st, 2017 in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 183 Waller Drive, Truro, Nova Scotia. Donations may be made to the Watch Tower Society of Canada.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
