Obituary of Arsenault, Joseph Ernest "Junior"
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, March 17th , 2017 of Joseph Ernest "Junior" Arsenault of Summerside, P.E.I. and formerly of Sudbury, ON., aged, 71 years.
Ernest was born in Summerside to his mother Henrietta (nee Sonier) Fitzpatrick and his father, the late Ernest Arsenault. Beloved husband of Mildred (nee McLure) Arsenault and loving father of Michael McLure of Summerside, Paul (Brenda) Arsenault of Summerside, Andy Arsenault of Calgary, AB., Lori (Darren) Pond of Cambridge, ON. and Angie Arsenault also of Cambridge, ON. Also lovingly remembered by his 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by his brothers and sisters: Erskine (Betty) Arsenault of Sudbury, ON., George (Cheryl) Fitzpatrick of Victoria, B.C., Kevin (Mary-Anne) Fitzpatrick of Halifax, N.S., Brian (Donna) Fitzpatrick of Red Deer, AB., Vickie Fitzpatrick Deveau of Summerside and Glenn (Glenda) Fitzpatrick of Summerside.
Besides his father, Ernest was predeceased by his step-father Ralph Fitzpatrick.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, March 21st, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Ernest's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, from 1:30 p.m. until time of funeral service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
