Obituary of Blanchard, Wayne Peter
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, March 24th, 2017 of Wayne Peter Blanchard of Miscouche and formerly of Summerside, aged 61 years. Wayne was born in Summerside, P.E.I. to his parents, the late Hubert Blanchard and Lucy (nee Cormier) Blanchard Mugridge.
Beloved husband of Thelma (nee Richard) Blanchard and loving father of Rachel (Joel) and Curtis. Also lovingly remembered by his 3 grandchildren Dallas, Bryson and Aaleyah, his mother-in-law Exina Richard and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Ivan (Jean), Eileen (Brian), David (Ethel), Reggie (Bet), Nelson (friend Sharon), Ronnie (Lesley) and Michael (Donna). His brothers and sisters-in-law Carmella (Gary), Camille (Edna) Marcia (Gerard), Ernest (Carmella), Angele (Ron) and Janice (Paul).
Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his step-father Alfred Mugridge, his father-in-law Oxybe Richard, his granddaughter Rylee Faith Blanchard DesRoche, his brother-in-law Joseph Richard, his niece Jennifer Lee Blanchard, and nephews Bobby Blanchard and Gabriel Arsenault.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, March 28th, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations in Wayne's memory to the Rylee Faith Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. John the Baptist Church would be greatly appreciated. By personal request, there will be no visiting hours held.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
