Obituary of Mugridge, John Leslie
The death occurred suddenly at the Moncton City Hospital, Moncton, N.B. while surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 of John Leslie Mugridge of Summerside, P.E.I. aged 69 years. John was born in Summerside to his mother Agnes (nee Young) and his father, the late Vance Mugridge.
Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Liz" DesRoches and loving father of Vance and Samantha and their mother Daisy Murl and Jonathan (his mother the late Donna Mugridge). Also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren Roberta (Terry) and Dale (Ashley), his grandchildren Spencer and Alyshia (and their mother Jennifer), Jordan, his step-grandchildren Mitchell, Jenni, Amanda, Stephanie, Robert, Bailey and Brooklyn and his step great-grandchildren Jackson, Nevaeh, Brayden, Olivia, Madalynn, Lincoln and Sullivan. Survived by his brother and sister-in-law Brian and Phyllis DesRoches and his special aunt Ruth Waite.
Besides his father, John was predeceased by his step-son Stephen O'Brien and step great-grandson Carter Perry.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, May 10th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations in John's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service. Interment to take place in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. A reception will take place at the Summerside Church of The Nazarene, 156 Fitzroy St., Summerside on Wednesday morning, starting at 11:30 a.m. All family and friends are invited to attend.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
