Obituary of Coughlin, Shirley Mary
The death occurred peacefully with her loving family by her side at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Sunday, October 29th, 2017 of Shirley Mary Coughlin of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 52 years. Shirley was born in Summerside, P.E.I. to her mother the late Joyce (nee Bridges) Coughlin and her father Bill (Geralda) Coughlin.
Beloved soul mate of Barry Yeo and special mother to her little paw babies Tiger and Lily.
Survived by her brothers and sisters Eleanor (Louis) Arsenault, Myrna (Gordon) Millar, Charles (Renee) Coughlin, Gertrude (Kelvin) Morrison, Katherine Gallant, Lynda (Rodney) Darrach, Crystal Gallant (Roger) Joney (Blair) Wallace step-sister Kim (Myron) Hutchinson, step-brother David (Cheryl) Ford, many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, mother and father in-law Dale and Linda Yeo, sisters in-law Lorelei (Maurice) Gallant and Lisa (Ron) Doucette.
Besides her mother, Shirley was predeceased by her brother Steven Coughlin (infancy), foster child Josh Bridges and several aunts and uncles.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Thursday, November 2nd, then to Freeland Presbyterian Church, Freeland for a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in church cemetery. Donations in Shirley's memory to Canadian Cancer Society or PEI Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
