Obituary of Corney, Rita Florence
The death occurred peacefully with family by her side at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tuesday February 13th, 2018 of Rita Florence (nee McBride) Corney of Summerside, aged 95 years. Rita was born in Cape Travers, P.E.I. to the late Joseph and Alice (McInnis) McBride.
Beloved wife of the late Joshiau Corney. Loving mother of Margaret Sutherland, step mother of Fairley Wallace and Heartly Corney. Survived by her brother in-law George Pineau and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Gerald (Lillian) McBride, Eileen (Fred) Weeks, Myrtle (Jack) MacDonald, Thomas McBride, William McBride and Francis Pineau.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Thursday February 15th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m. Interment to take place in St. Peters Cemetery, Seven Mile Bay at a later date. Memorial donations in Rita's memory to the P.E.I. Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday from 1:00 - 2:45 p.m.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
