Obituary of Smith, George "Sonny"
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. with family by his side on Wednesday March 21st, 2018 of George Robert Jr. "Sonny" Smith of Summerside, P.E.I. aged 71 years. Sonny was born in Summerside to the late George and Lila (nee Cotton) Smith. Beloved husband of Edith (nee Hickey) Smith and loving father of Kevin (Carla), Kathy (Chris) Brown and Kendra (Andrew) Morrison. Also lovingly remembered by his 9 grandchildren: Keisha, Ethan, Kaylyn, Emma, Kayden, Kaleb, Cassidy, Kennedy and Ryan, his great-grandson Mason and numerous nieces and nephews.
Survived by his brothers and sister: Blair, Judy (Norman) Cole, Wilfred (Lorraine), Gordon (Chrissy) and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Besides his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his brother Jimmy.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, March 27th where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place at a later date. Memorial donations in Sonny's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening only, from 6 - 8 p.m.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
