Obituary of Gallant, Emmanuel "Mannie"
The death occurred suddenly at the Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, N.S. on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 of Emmanuel "Mannie" Gallant of St. Nicholas, P.E.I., aged 68 years. Mannie was born in Summerside to his father the late Augustus "Gussie" and his mother Agnes Gallant.
Beloved soulmate of Mary Foster and loving father of Lisa (Ian) Butcher, Jeff Gallant, step-children Gwen (John) Morey, Jamie Walsh and Vickii (Naya) Walsh. Also lovingly remembered by his 7 grandchildren Terry, Kayla, Jessi, Samantha, Jaiden, Sierra and Lana- Rae.
Survived by his brothers and sisters Elmer "Chris" (Julianna), Judy (Kenny) Blacquiere, Gloria (Dennis) Gallant, Michael (Sylvia), Christine (Douglas) Simmons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Mannie was predeceased by his nephew Darryl Blaquiere and sister-in-law Marlene Gallant.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, June 25th, 2018, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Miscouche. Memorial donations in Mannie's memory to Alcoholics Anonymous would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday evening from 5 - 8 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
