Obituary of Bench, James Howard
The death occurred surrounded by his loving family at his late residence on Wednesday, August 29th, 2018 of James Howard Bench of Chelton Beach, P.E.I., aged 84 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Irene Simpson-Bench for 20 years. Father of Laurie Langman (Dave), Gary, Jacquie Naylor (Ron), daughter-in-law Sandi Sutton-Bench. Stepfather of Dennis Green (Jacinthe), Danny Green (Tara), Christopher Green (Stacey), Angela Burness (Jeff), Bradley Green. Adopted father of 5, including his little angel Sarah (deceased). Papa to Brett, Jozie, Jordan, Julia, Brooke, Kyle, Linkin, Ayden, and Scott. Grandpa to Kelly/ Wendy ( Lucas ), Meredith/Adam, John/ Amy ( McKenna), Mandy/DJ ( Wes and Sadie), Lauren/Ryan (Zoey), Breanne/Dusty, Shawn, Sarah, Brent.
Jim was a proud member of the RCAF (Military) for 34 1/2 years, with medals including the MMM.
After his retirement, his passion for boating led him to be the commander of the Power/Sail Squadron Belleville. Jim and Irene enjoyed sailing the Bay of Quinte in their boat (Top Secret) and Jim was the Commodore of the Belleville Yacht Club (2002).
Services will be held in Belleville, ON at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
