Obituary of Newell, Joan Ann
The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday, January 14th, 2019 of Joan Ann Newell of Summerside, aged 76 years. Joan was born in Charlottetown to the late Norman and Jean (nee Shepherd) Newell.
Loving mother of Margaret (Kevin) Penwarden, Darren McQuaid (Ashley) and Jacqueline Paynter (deceased). Also lovingly remembered by her 5 grandchildren Lashya, Paige, Mitchel (Christy), Michelle (Logan) and Kazei.
Survived by her sister Norma, brother Ronnie and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her sisters Judy and Marilynn and brother Donnie.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, January 18th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Memorial donations in Joan's memory to Lashya or Paige's Education Trust Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday evening from 5 - 7 p.m.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
