Obituary of Doucette, Joseph "John"
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, February 28th, 2020 of Joseph "John" Doucette of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 81 years. John was born in Miscouche to the late Cyrus and Margaret (nee Perry) Doucette.
Beloved husband of Mary Bonita (nee White) Doucette and loving father of Shirley Pye, Joseph (Lori) Doucette and James (Tammy) Doucette. Also lovingly remembered by his 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survived by his brother and sister Wilfred (Josie) Doucette and Geralda (Francis) Doucette.
Predeceased by Josephine (David) Simmonds, Hector Doucette, William (Bertha) Doucette, Emile (Shirley) Doucette, Harry (Evelyn) Doyle, Gus (Donna) Doucette and Leona Doucette.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, March 2nd, 2020, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:30 p.m. Interment to take place at a later date. Memorial donations in John's memory to the Wedgewood Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday, March 2nd, 2020, prior to the service from 2:30 - 3:15 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
