Obituary of Rushton, Edna Mary
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, May 15th, 2020 of Edna Mary (Gallant) Rushton of Summerside, aged 73 years. Edna was born in Mont-Carmel, P.E.I. to the late Ben and Leah (Arsenault) Gallant.
Beloved wife of Gordon Ruston and loving mother of Ronnie (Sharon) Rushton, Oromocto, NB., Kevin Rushton, St. Eleanors, Neal (Cindy) Rushton, Miscouche, Pauline Rushton, Miscouche, Larry (Tammy) Rushton, Slemon Park, grandchildren Ben Rushton, Hannah and Cody Doucette, sister Aline (Aurel) Chaisson, Ontario, sisters in-law Betty and Ivy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brothers and sisters John, Hermine (Alphonse) Richard, Rose Gallant, Margaret (in infancy), Andrew, Nazaire, Glorice, Tilman, Eunice (Adrian) Gallant, Zella (Roger) Belley and brother in-law Douglas Rushton.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside. Completed funeral arrangement to be announced at a later date. Interment to take place in Notre Dame du Mont-Carmel Cemetery, Mont-Carmel. Memorial donations in Edna's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
