Obituary of Surette, Melvin "Mel" Joseph

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Wednesday, August 26th, 2020 of Melvin "Mel" Joseph Surette of Summerside, P.E.I., at the age of 48. Mel was born in Halifax, N.S. to Melvin and Julie (MacLeod) Surette. Loving father of Daniel and Nicole Surette. Survived by his sisters Sheila (Jim) MacDonald and Lisa (Kevin) Cogswell, nephew Angus MacDonald, special friend Sharon O'Halloran, as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins. Mel was very involved with veterans and with the Summerside Legion, he was always willing to help others when needed. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. A celebration of life will be held in Summerside at a later date. Interment to take place in Oakridge Memorial Cemetery, Lower Sackville, N.S. Memorial donations in Mel's memory to the Summerside Legion (Veterans Support), Heart & Stroke Foundation or MS Society would be greatly appreciated.
