To Gertrude’s family I send my heartfelt sympathy. She couldn’t have asked for a better family. There was never a time when we visited or talked on the phone that she didn’t praise her kids and their families. She was truly blessed, but also, they were truly blessed to have such a caring mom. I was married to her cousin, Jack Crosby, and when he passed away she was there for me at all times. We cried a lot and we laughed a lot. I never felt so proud as the day last year she told me that she tells people I’m her cousin. We had a close and warm bond that I will cherish forever. I always laughed when she would say “don’t call me Friday till later in the day cause I’m going to Gail’s to get my hair done!” As I told Gertrude when we had our last long talk - thanks for being my friend, my cousin, and thanks for all the memories from the foxes visits, the visit to the woods, the talks about missing our spouses, about all the changes in the world, all the warm hugs, and especially for including me in her life.
Rest my dear friend and cousin; you’ve earned it. ❤️

Big hugs to Debbie & Jeff, Kevin & Barb, Doug & Della, Leon & Judy and Sonja & Allister. Gertrude was a very special person, full of humor and wisdom. I will very much miss her. She always had perfect hair and looked nice all the time! Gertrude was on my phone fan-out list through church, to notify of events and cancellations. Whenever we connected (leaving her to the last call on my list), we talked on the telephone for many hours, never running out of things to talk about. She would describe her pet foxes, making them bologna sandwiches nightly, and coming right up on her back doorstep. She would feed the birds all winter too. She loved her golf cart to take adventures in nature in the woodlot behind the house. She would talk about how lucky she was to have such a wonderful, supportive family, visiting regularly and doing so much for her, especially after Sheldon's passing. How Gertrude loved her convertible, taking it to church on Sunday mornings, etc. When I hear the chimes at church, I will always think of her, as it was a role she gladly took on, arriving early to have them ring out across the community and shutting them off just as the church service would start. We would talk about curling and I know she followed everything she could on TSN, staying up late at night too. I can picture her on the curling ice sweeping with her corn broom. It took her to several national events. She was an excellent Canada Post employee in Crapaud, somehow sorting mail to arrive to its destination with a less-then-specific general address. I remember her pin collection displayed in a large case lined with felt. She loved her dogs and the farm in Crapaud, especially pleased when Leon & Judy built at the end of the driveway. When moving to Hampton, she enjoyed living on the highway and seeing the plows go by. She always said the traffic was her company. She was so proud of her grandchildren. She loved the summer cottage at Happy Acres and the social life it brought. Gertrude was a regular part of the Sunday after-church luncheon ladies where we had many, many laughs and a lot of fun at Blue Goose, Red Rooster, The Lobster Barn, Chez Yvonne, etc. We never did solve the mystery of what Queen Elizabeth carried in her purse! May you hear many stories shared, at this sad time, that can only add to your treasured memories of Gertrude's wonderful life of 91 years.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
