Obituary of Amy Ellen McArthur
The death occured peacefully at Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Thursday January 9, 2025 of Amy Ellen McArthur (Shaw) of Summerside aged 83 years. Amy was born in Enmore, PEI to her late parents William and Pearl Shaw (McArthur). Beloved wife of Garfield and loving mother of David (deceased), Olive "Ollie" (Loring) DesRoches, Delton (Tammy) McArthur, Deletra Curtis (John deceased).
Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica), Lisa (Moby), Jake (Jade), Brittany (Brandon) and her great grandchildren, Camryn, Clairabella, Cainslee, Lily, Emma, Ensley and great great grandson Toby.
Survived by her sisters-in-law Mae, Leona and Evelyn and her brother-in-law Everett.
Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Bert, Bea (Winfred), Georgie (Fred), Lilly, Kenny, Milt, Alfie, James (in infancy).
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday January 14, 2025 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place in the Pentecostal Cemetery, Brooklynn PEI. Donations in Amy's memory can be made directly to the Pentecostal Church or the Alzheimers Society. Visiting hours on Monday from 4 - 6 p.m.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
