Obituary of Arvilla Frances Roach
The death occurred on January 5, 2025 at her home in Summerside of Arvilla Frances Roach, aged 59 years after a 5 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer.
Loving wife of John van Vliet, amazing mother of Lauren (Michael), Jillian (Joshua) and Adrienne (Justin), and most awesome Oma to Emmett and Warren.
Also left to mourn are brothers and sisters Earl (Marlene), Helen (Wayne) Clinton, Rachel (Rick) Speelman and Grant; sisters and brothers in law Helen (Marshall) Clow, Marietta MacCormack, Arnold (Della), Mark, Stephanie (Chris) Wells and Michelle; nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Pre-deceased by parents Emmett and Angelina Roach and parents in law Arnold and Brigetta van Vliet.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Arvilla's memory can be made to the St. Paul's legacy fund, the St. Paul's chapter of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul food bank or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Thank you to Dr. Monica McNeil, Dr. Champion, nurses & staff of the Oncology unit and Emergency department of Prince County Hospital for your exceptional care during Arvilla's cancer journey. Also many thanks to Island EMS, Summerside Fire Department and Summerside Police services for the quick response and compassion shown in our time of need.
Funeral Mass on Friday, January 10 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Catholic church, Summerside. Visitation on Thursday, January 9 from 2 to 6 p.m. at East Prince Funeral Home.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
