Mardith Grant

Obituary of Mardith Ellen Grant

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our Precious Mother. Mardith Ellen Grant (McKay) died peacefully at her residence in Summerside, PEI, on Tuesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 75. She was formerly of Fredericton, NB. Mardith was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine to her late parents Murray and Velma (Bell) McKay.

Beloved wife of the late Basil Grant and loving mother of Mary Anne (William) Ross, Janet (Adam) Spinney, Susie (Mike) Randall, Christine (Mike) Handrahan and James Grant (-deceased). Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kirsten, Lindsay (Corbin), Averie, Briar, Alec, Mickey and Emma-Kate. She will also be missed by her constant companion- her cat Jack.

Survived by her brother James (Rita -deceased) McKay, and sister Janet (Jim) Canning and Brother in law Ray Grant (Colleen).

In addition to her husband and son she is predeceased by her brothers-in-law Ernie Grant, Thomas Grant, Merlin Grant and Kenny Grant. Her sisters-in-law Pearl Grant, Mabel Grant and Patricia Grant.

Mum was the salt of the earth with an easy laugh; a precious person to know. She always cared, never swore, she took her time, danced, loved animals and nature.   She enjoyed her tea, watching Monk with Jack on her lap and phone calls with her brother (they roared). She loved the beach and lying in the sun, she spoke softly and laughed hard. She was all ears with any mention of Dad, loving to share memories of him.

A testament to her strength, in her last days and hours, she used the little energy she had to tell her family how much she loved them.  She kept her humor and good nature.  Forever putting others above herself; always a mother.

She will be missed beyond measure.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, January 6th, 2025 where a Celebration of Life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place at a later date in Fredericton, NB.

Special thanks to Dr. Reisch, the Home care and Ambulatory care nurses for going above and beyond.
