Obituary of Guelda Helen Perry
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, PEI on Sunday November 24th, 2024 of Guelda Helen (Sonier) Perry of Summerside, aged 90 years. Guelda was born in Summerside to the late Peter and Annie (Richards) Sonier.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Perry and loving mother Robin (Bobby) Johnson of Summerside, Nicol (Charlie) Smith of Hunter River, and Vance Perry, Julie Perry, Trudy Perry, Leslie Perry, and Mary (John) Kahl all of Medicine Hat, AB. Also remembered by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Survived by her brothers and sister Owen, Art, Joe, Yvonne and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her children Otis, Colleen, in infancy Grant and twins, brother and sister Henry, Henrietta, Jean, Julia and Norman.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday November 29th, 2024 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations in Guelda’s memory can be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of the Alzheimer’s Society. Visiting hours on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
