Obituary of Myers, Rufus Morris
The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tuesday, November 10th, 2020 of Rufus "Boop" Morris Myers of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 77 years. Rufus was born in Duvar, P.E.I. to the late Edward and Laurinda (Gallant) Myers.
Beloved husband of Florence "Flo" (MacDonald) Myers and loving father of Sonia (Alan) Melville, Todd (Marie), Dean and Nicole (Paul) Theriault. Also lovingly remembered by his 10 grandchildren Tammy, Parker, Ashley, T.J. (deceased), Tim, Kati, Alicia, Zachary, Josh and Hannah and 7 great grandchildren Ben, Sam, Anna, Alexis, Hope, Taylor and Roman.
Survived by his brothers and sisters Patricia, Ted, Ralph, Elaine, Donna, Linda, Gary, Darlene, Ron, Marie and Ricky and many nieces and nephew.
Predeceased by his sister Laverne and two sisters in infancy.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside. A private funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel, followed by the interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rufus's memory can be made directly to the Summerset Manor.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
