Obituary of Robert Norman Gunn
Robbie passed away peacefully and all too unexpectantly on September 26, 2024, at Souris General Hospital, Prince Edward Island – just as the sun was rising.

Robbie grew up on Central Street in their family home at the Dominion Experimental Fox Ranch. Upon graduation from Summerside High School in 1970, he attended Mount Allison University (1970 to 1974) and obtained a Bachelor of Science (Major in Geology). He was employed as a Hydrogeologist for the New Brunswick Department of Environment. Over the years, Robbie continued to pursue additional education courses that were related to his field at the University of Waterloo, the University of New Brunswick, Princeton University, and other institutions.
Robbie developed a personal faith with the Lord, which he embraced throughout his life. He raised his family in Fredericton, New Brunswick where he was actively involved in the ministries of Devon Park Baptist Church, especially Devon Park School Ministry. He enjoyed discussing and sharing his faith with others. He also had a keen interest in nature and promoted the stewardship of nature, the wilderness, and the environment. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, bird watching and most recently, metal detecting.
Robbie enjoyed playing baseball and soccer in his youth, though soccer became his passion, and he excelled as a goalkeeper. He represented Prince Edward Island in soccer as a goalkeeper for the first and second Canada Summer Games (1969 in Halifax / Dartmouth NS and 1973 in Westminster / Burnaby BC). He was honoured to be selected as the Island’s flag bearer for the 1973 Canada Summer Games (PEI’s centennial year). Robbie continued to play competitive soccer at a high level. He was the goalkeeper for the Mount Allison University varsity team during the years 1970 to 1974.
At this time, Robbie’s family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the competent health care professionals who provided excellent care to Robbie while he was a patient at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Souris General Hospital.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
