Obituary of Ivan Jack Newrick
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ivan Jack Newrick peacefully from Wedgewood Manor on Monday, September 16, 2024.
Born in Cape Traverse on May 3, 1935. Son of the late Jessie (Heffell) and Jack L. Newrick. Ivan was a long-time resident of Borden-Carleton. At fifteen years of age he began working at the Fina Service Station, biking from Cape Traverse to Borden every day. He worked all his life as a mechanic, eventually taking ownership of the service station himself. He spent many years working long, hard hours in all kinds of weather. He was a member of the Borden Fire Department. Following retirement at the age of sixty-five, he attended the Borden, Cape Traverse, and Bedeque United Churches.
He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, June (nee Sherren).
Daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Hansen, Janice (Fred) Casler, Lori Anne (Blair) Newrick-Gallant, sons, Ivan (Laura) Newrick, and James (Michelle Eisnor) Newrick. Grandchildren, Melanie (Jonathan) Chase, Graham Hansen, Alexander (Kim) Hansen, Rick (Ashley) Casler, Joshua Gallant, Joel Newrick, Timothy (Robyn) Newrick, and Jacklyn Newrick. Great grandchildren, Stella Rhae Hansen, Charlie Casler, Greyson Casler, and Bentley Newrick.
Predeceased by his parents, brother Arthur Newrick, granddaughter Melissa June Hansen, and son-in-law Blair Gallant.
Special thanks to the staff of Wedgewood Manor who took such excellent care of Ivan.
No visiting hours by personal request. Interment service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church in Crapaud at 2:00 pm Friday, September 20th. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John’s Anglican Church Cemetery Fund would be appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
