Born in Summerside PEI on July 31st, 1954, to parents Yvonne and Bernard MacDonald. Greg is survived by a cherished wife Karen MacDonald and two beloved children Alex MacDonald (Courtney) and Kendra Blin (Yvon). Greg was better known to his 3 (soon to be 4) grandchildren (Braxton , Dawsyn , Benjamin and soon to be born baby) as Poppy and was a constant source of support and joy to them. Greg has 5 wonderful siblings Doug, Sally, Cathy, Danny and Jeff. Greg will be remembered with full hearts and grateful spirits as his impact on those who loved him will be timeless.
It cannot be overstated just how much love, kindness and joy Greg brought into this world and to those lucky ones who called him a friend. An incredible athlete and force of nature in competition, he will be more remembered for how he made those who know him feel and his endless selfless dedication to help anyone in need.
Gig spent countless hours coaching his kids in hockey and baseball and passed his competitive spirit and love of sport to both his kids and grand children. He was happiest at the ball field, hockey rink, playing cards or at the golf course with his friends and family. He never missed an opportunity to make memories and have a good time with those he loved.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, where a visitation will take place Monday July 22 at 4pm followed directly by a celebration of life at 5pm on site. There will be an opportunity for any friends who wish to speak briefly to do so. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be set up in Greg’s name to sponsor sport registrations annually to remove financial barriers and assist kids access to minor hockey in Summerside. ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
