Obituary of Anita Bernadette Murray
The death occurred peacefully, with family by her side, at the Prince County Hospital on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 of Anita Bernadette (Milligan) Murray of Summerside, formerly of Seven Mile Bay, aged 80 years. Born on December 6, 1943 in Foxley River, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Veronica (Smith) Milligan. Wife of the late Ralph Murray. Beloved mother of Stephen Murray, Shelley (Ted) Tremere, and Deanna Murray. Proud grandmother (fondly known as ‘DeeDoe’) of her eight cherished grandchildren, Nicholas (Courtney) & Clay Tremere, Kristyn, Lauryn (Ethan Harvey), Cameron & Charlotte Murray, and Landon & Hudson Murray. Dear great-grandmother of Brielle Anita Tremere.
Lovingly remembered by her siblings, Joan (the late Joseph) Doran, Eugene (Aldona) Milligan, Fenton (Natalie) Milligan, Marvin (Elaine) Milligan, Donald (Colleen) Milligan, and Jeanette (Kevin) Duffy. Sister-in-law of George Murray.
Besides her parents and husband, Anita was predeceased by her brothers, Floyd Milligan and Gerald (Bridget) Milligan, her parents-in-law, Earl and Alberta (Muttart) Murray, as well as nephews Darcy Milligan, Jonathan Duffy, and Michael Doran.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside. Visiting hours on Tuesday, June 25 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Seven Mile Bay. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
