It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Stanley Makin age 53 of Summerside, PEI. Stanley passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, at the Prince County Hospital. Born in Fredericton NB, he was the son of Marlene Mitchell and the late Gordon Makin.

He is survived by his beloved wife Ethel Nelson Makin who was never far from his thoughts, along with his mother Marlene, stepmother Beverley Makin, siblings Wendy (Robert) Peters, Christopher Chatham, Linda (Kent) Kidwell and Bruce Makin, and sister-in-law Joanne Chatham. Stanley was an active member of the Summerside Legion for 25 years. He was involved with Special Olympics and loved sports. He was a proud bowler and loved playing baseball, floor hockey, basketball and everything and anything else he could try. The only thing that rivaled his love of sports was his love for a good movie and to Stan there was no better movie than Top Gun. Stanley always felt “the need for speed” and loved sharing his passion for all things army and militia. Stanley loved a good joke and enjoyed making the people around him laugh.
