Treliza Gee

Obituary of Treliza Gee

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Treliza Gee (nee Chan) who left us on May 19, 2024 at 76 years of age, due to cardiac arrest and kidney failure, at Le Chez Nous Community Care Facility in Wellington, Prince Edward Island, Canada, where she lived during her last few months.

Treliza was a beacon of love and strength and perseverance in our lives. Born on September 3, 1947 to the late Chiu Chan and the late Chor Kin Siu of Hong Kong, she spent her life enriching the lives of everyone around her; she embodied kindness, compassion, loyalty and unwavering support. Together with her late husband Kenneth Gee, they immigrated from Hong Kong to Canada in 1972, and lived in Montreal for 40 years, before she moved to PEI in 2012, after her husband’s succumbed to Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Treliza was known for her boundless love and dedication to her family and her ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. Whether through her warm smiles, her delicious home-cooked meals, her wise and comforting words, or her quiet yet meaningful presence in a room, Treliza touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and her legacy of love, courage and resilience will continue to inspire us. She leaves behind her cherished children, Carmen (son-in-law Clint Bowe) and Audrey (son-in-law Jason Arsenault) and her adored grandchildren, Brooke, Tristan, Reid, Clara and Renee. Treliza was the 4th born of a large family and was a caring sister to brothers Eddie Chan, Lewis Chan, the late Lawrence Chan and the late Anthony Chan; her sisters will remember her always; Nancy Chan, Angela Chan, Rebecca Chan and Winnie Chan, as well as her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Janet Payne, Roy (Cecily) Gee and Grace (Ralph) Lam. Numerous other family members include many cousins, nieces and nephews who were also so very fortunate to have known her.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the countless beautiful memories she has left us and our faith that she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and reunited with her late husband. Treliza will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in our hearts, and her legacy in her family.

Audrey and Carmen would like to thank all the caregivers and staff at Le Chez Nous Community Care Facility for providing great care for Treliza during her last few months.

Resting at East Prince Home, Summerside, PEI. As requested by Treliza, there will be no public visitation hours held. Funeral service will take place at the East Prince Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 31 at 2:00pm, followed by a burial at the Saint Philippe et Saint Jacques cemetery in Egmont Bay on route 11.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Treliza’s memory can be made to her grandchildren’s education fund by etransfer to teampei@hotmail.com or a charity of your choice.
