Obituary of Robert Joseph Dunn

 

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Robert (Bobby) Joseph Dunn. He died of cancer on April 22nd surrounded by family at the Prince County Hospital in PEI.

He was born May 9th, 1959 in Charlottetown, PEI to William and Mary Dunn (McAleer). 

Bobby was married to his beloved wife Denise (Misener) of 40 years and had 4 loving children (Naphtali, Katie, Daniel, and Laura).

Bobby was a deeply compassionate individual with a profound love for Christ and humanity. He began his journey as a missionary with YWAM, serving globally before pursuing an MBA at UNB. Later, he co-founded Dunn’s Hockey with his brother Dave. After selling the hockey school, Bobby worked with Trius Tours to help establish the first transit system on the Island. He then served as Director of Community Services for the city of Summerside and then helped establish the Heat for Less program.

Bobby was cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, friend, spiritual leader, and mentor to many. His altruism extended to fostering children and aiding those in need. Bobby enjoyed sports, outdoor activities and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation for his life including his service in the Church. He will be fondly remembered for his optimism,  generosity, kindness, and fun-loving nature.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Dunn, Charlottetown; his wife, Denise; his children; Naphtali Carleton (Matthew), NS; Katie Klaesi (Elias), Ont.; Daniel, Summerside, PEI; and Laura Bhibah (Karim), NB;

Grandchildren: Declan, Eliana, Riley and Jack Klaesi; Rowen and Ava Carleton; Ethan, Evelyn, Eli and Emerson Bhibah. 

He is also survived by his siblings: Billy Dunn (Gina); David Dunn; and Susan Roberts (Mark); several nieces and nephews; in-laws: Darrell Misener (Christene), NS; Dale Misener (Shona), NB; and Deanna Misener (Shane), Ireland; his mother-in-law, Myrna Misener (MacDonald), NS.

Bobby was predeceased by his father, William Dunn; his brother, Gary Dunn, and father-in-law, William Misener.

Visiting hours will be held at the East Prince Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be open to the public at Summerside Community Church on Friday April 26th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.
